-.- JAISHREE THAKUR J. (ORAL) This is a petition that has been filed for grant of regular bail to the petitioner in case FIR No.273 dated 20.12.2017 under Sections 420, 465, 468, 471, 120-B IPC registered at Police Station Zira, District Ferozepur.

Counsel for the petitioner herein would contend that father of the petitioner, who died in the year 2015, had availed two loans, one for a sum of Rs.4 lakhs and another for Rs.3 lakhs. The petitioner being the legal heir has already cleared one loan for an amount of Rs.4 lakhs and is in the process of clearing the other loan. It is further argued that the investigation has been completed and the challan stands presented, therefore, custodial interrogation of the petitioner would no longer be required. The trial is likely to take some time to conclude and therefore, prays for concession of bail to the petitioner.

Counsel for the respondent-State opposes grant of regular bail to the petitioner by contending that no ground is made out for grant of bail PANKAJ KUMAR 2021.04.29 16:48 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

I have heard learned counsel for the parties. Keeping in view the fact that the investigation is complete and the challan stands presented and the trial is likely to take some time to conclude owing to COVID-19 pandemic, no useful purpose would be served in keeping the petitioner behind bars. The instant petition is allowed and the petitioner is directed to be released on regular bail on execution of adequate personal/surety bond to the satisfaction of concerned trial Court/Duty Magistrate. However, any observation made herein shall not be construed to be an expression on merits of the case.
