The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their lives and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.2 has performed marriage with petitioner No.1 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their lives and liberty at their instance.
Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 3 only. Dr. Malvika Singh, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents No.1 to 3-State.
Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that a representation dated 22.06.2018 (Annexure P-5) but no action has been taken.It is noted that representation has been addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, whereas in the memo of parties, Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur, has been arrayed as respondent No.2. CRM-M-26720 of 2018 -2circumstances, the petitioner would be at liberty to make representation to the concerned authority.
On making such representation, the authority would look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances. The validity of the marriage has not been decided in this petition. In case there is any FIR lodged against petitioner No.1, the police would be at liberty to take action in accordance with law.
