The prayer in the present Civil Writ Petition filed under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to give the charge of the Vice-Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University. 2.

Learned counsel would contend that the petitioner who is the senior most Dean Faculty was entitled to be given the charge of the post of Vice Chancellor in terms of Section 10(4) of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University Act, 2014 regarding which number of representations have been submitted from 02.11.2023 (Annexure P4) to 07.01.2024 (Annexure P10) which have yet not evoked any response, despite the fact that the said post is lying vacant since 01.11.2023. He thus, at this stage, on instructions, submits that the petitioner is sanguine of it being considered in a positive manner, in case, a direction is given to the respondents to decide the same in a time bound manner by granting him an opportunity of hearing.

In view of the aforesaid and without commenting upon the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to the respondents to decide the representation dated 07.01.2024 (Annexure P10), taking into account the pleas of the petitioner raised therein within a period of 6 weeks.
