BEDI, J (ORAL) Through the instant petition, the petitioner seeks a direction to the official respondents to protect her life and liberty claiming that she has got a threat to her life and liberty at the hands of respondent No.5 who happens to be a Reporter and on account of he having earlier published defamatory news item the petitioner has launched prosecution in the shape of defamation/complaint against him at Jagraon.

It is claimed by the petitioner that on account of respondent No.5 being a Reporter, the police officials are not taking any steps.

Notice of motion to the Advocate General, Punjab . On asking of the Court, notice has been accepted by Mr.S.S.Chandumajra, DAG., Punjab, present in the Court. Copy supplied.

CRM-M-26542-2015 (O&M) I have heard counsel for the petitioner and gone through the facts and circumstances of the case. I deem it appropriate in the interest of justice, without expression of any opinion on the allegations levelled in the petition, to issue a direction to the DIG Ludhiana, (Range) to look into the allegations in the application Annexure P1 dated 2.6.2015 and in case on enquiry any act allegedly committed by respondent No.5 warrants any action, the same be taken. It is made clear that in case the averments are found to be fake, uncertain or wrong, it will be open to the concerned authorities to file the same.

It will be appreciated in case necessary steps are taken within a period of two months after receipt of a copy of this order.
