The present contempt petition has been filed under Sections 10 and 12 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 alleging contempt of the order dated 06.03.2026 passed in CRWP-2486-2026 whereby the Superintendent, Sub Jail, Pathankot (respondent No.3 herein) was directed to decide the application for parole immediately. Since a decision was not taken, the present contempt petition has been filed.

Learned counsel for the State has handed over a copy of the order dated 08.03.2026 rejecting the parole application on the ground that the petitioner was taken into custody after the conviction order was upheld on 20.02.2026 and parole cannot be granted since he has not been in custody for a period of four months post-conviction. A copy thereof has been supplied to the learned counsel for the petitioner. Registry to scan and tag the copy of the order at the appropriate place.
