The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of directions to respondent Nos.2 and 3 for protection of life and personal liberty of the petitioners. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that both the petitioners are major and they have solemnized their marriage on 23.10.2019 according to the Hindu rites and ceremonies at ShyamVihar, Phase-I, Najafgarh, New Delhi against the wishes of their parents and relatives. Thereafter, they have been receiving serious threats to their life from the family members of both the petitioners and have been living in fear since 23.10.2019. The petitioners had also given a representation dated 23.10.2019 (Annexure P-4) to respondent No.2for providing adequate security. However, no action has been taken till date.

YOGESH SHARMA 2020.08.13 21:06 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CRWP-3468-2020 (O&M) -2Without expressing any opinion with regard to the veracity of the contents of the petition and the submissions made by learned counsel for the petitioners, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 - Senior Superintendent of Police, Rohtak (Haryana) - to decide the representation dated 23.10.2019 (Annexure P-4) within a period of 15 days from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order and take necessary action as per law.

Till the decision of the representation, respondent Nos.2 and 3 are directed to ensure the safety and security of the petitioners. It is, however, made clear that this order shall not, in any manner, be construed as an expression of opinion on the veracity of the statement made by the petitioners or on the validity of the marriage and shall have no effect on any other civil or criminal proceedings, if any, instituted/pending against them.
