Quashing of FIR No. 20 dated 17/3/2014 u/s 323/324/326/506/148/149 IPC registered at P.S. Raikot District Ludhiana at the instance of respondent No.2 Pawandeep Singh, alleging that the petitioners constituted an unlawful assembly and had assaulted him, has been sought on the basis of compromise.

The parties were directed to appear before Illaqa Magistrate and get their statements recorded. After recording the statements of the parties, a report has been submitted by JMIC Jagraon to the effect that the matter has been compromised voluntarily.

In view of Full Bench judgment of this court in Kulwinder Singh and ors vs. State of Punjab and anr 2007(3) RCR (Cr.) 1052, the FIR can be quashed on the basis of compromise as no useful purpose will be served by prolonging the trial when the complainant-injured has settled the controversy.

The petition is allowed. The above said FIR and the criminal proceedings emanating therefrom are hereby quashed, subject to petitioners depositing a total sum of Rs.10,000/- with the Punjab State Legal Service Authority, within a period of one month.
