Prayer in the present writ petition is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the official respondents to take appropriate legal action on the resolutions dated 22.12.2025 (Annexure P-2) and 24.12.2025 (Annexure P-3) and representation dated 29.12.2025 (Annexure P-6).

The present writ petition has been filed by the Sarpanch in her personal capacity. It was stated that the Panchayat Secretary was not cooperating with the Gram Panchayat in passing a requisite resolution for filing the writ petition on behalf of the Gram Panchayat. The resolutions passed by the Gram Panchayat stated that the trees standing on the land belonging to the Gram Panchayat had been illegally cut by private persons at night. Despite the said resolutions having been passed, no further action was taken by the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO), Nurpur JITENDER KUMAR 2026.03.24 14:16 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

Notice of motion.

Mr. Aftab Singh Khara, Sr. DAG Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondent Nos.1 to 5 and states that necessary action would be taken by the BDPO, Nurpur Bedi after looking into the matter within a period of two weeks from today.

In view of the above, the present writ petition is disposed off with a direction to the BDPO, Nurpur Bedi to look into the matter and take appropriate action, if required, in accordance with law. Pending applications, if any, also stand disposed off.
