The petitioner seeks issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus so as to direct respondents No.2 to 3 to adjudicate upon the application for grant of parole submitted by the petitioner, which had been sent by respondent No.4 - The Superintendent, District Jail, Karnal, District Karnal, vide dispatch No.13613-16 dated 24.11.2023.

Learned counsel representing the petitioner submitted that despite a period of about 4 months having elapsed, the authorities concerned have not decided the case of the petitioner as regards grant of parole. 3.
Notice of motion.

On asking of the Court, Mr. Munish Sharma, DAG, Haryana, upon whom an advance copy of petition had already been served, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State.

Learned State counsel has infromed that the authorities concerned shall consider and dispose of the application filed on behalf of the petitioner for grant of parole expeditiously preferably within a period of less than one week from today.

In view of the aforesaid submission, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondents No.2 to 4 to do the needful, so that the application filed by the petitioner for grant of parole is considered and finally disposed of within a period of 1 week from today. The authorities concerned shall further consider the prayer of the petitioner for his release on parole upon furnishing personal bonds only. Such request shall, however, be considered only having regard to the antecedents of the petitioner and other attending circumstances.

A copy of this order be conveyed to respondents No.2 to 4 for necessary compliance.
