Vide order dated 13.08.2025 (Annexure P-13 appended with the writ petition), the Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar had agreed with the report of the BDPO, Mehatpur submitted to the DDPO, Jalandhar that proceedings are required to be taken under Section 7 of the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961 for the removal of unauthorized possession and the BDPO, Mehatpur had already issued directions to the Sarpanch, Gram Panchayat and Panchayat Secretary to initiate such proceedings and that the BDPO, Mehatpur shall monitor these proceedings and ensure that the same are concluded.

Learned counsel for the respondents has informed the Court that the said proceedings have since been initiated and the next date of hearing is 02.04.2026.

Learned counsel for the petitioner states that in view of the statement of the State Counsel, he does not wish to press the present writ petition. He, however, prays that the proceedings be concluded in a time bound manner.

In view thereof, the present writ petition is disposed off as not pressed with a direction to the authority concerned that the proceedings be concluded within a period of six months from today and as noticed in the order dated 13.08.2025 (Annexure P-13), the same would be monitored by the BDPO, Mehatpur.
