IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB & HARYANA AT CHANDIGARH

Civil Writ Petition No. 7689 of 2025 (O&M) Date of Decision: 20.03.2025 Tehal Singh .....Petitioner versus State of Punjab and others .....Respondents

  Present :

Mr. Sandeep Verma, Advocate, for the petitioner. Mr. Anurag Chopra, Addl. Advocate General, Punjab for the respondents.

****

The petition is essentially against the show cause notice (Annexure P-1) by respondent No.4 under the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961. The petitioner has not filed any reply to the said show cause notices.

2.

Since the petitioner has not filed any reply to the said show cause notice, it would be appropriate that reply is filed by the petitioner before the competent authority i.e. respondent No.4, which if done within a period of three weeks from today, the same shall be considered and appropriate enquiry be conducted in terms of the provisions of the Act of 1961 as expeditiously as possible.

3.

The petitioner thereafter is at liberty to avail the remedy available under the law if any adverse order is passed against him. 4.

It is made clear that any coercive steps, if contemplated as per the orders to be passed, will be taken after passing of the same. 5.

With these observations, the petition stands disposed of. (SHEEL NAGU) CHIEF JUSTICE (SUMEET GOEL) JUDGE 20.03.2025 ravinder Whetherspeaking/reasoned √Yes/No Whether reportable Yes/No√ RAVINDER KUMAR 2025.03.20 18:05 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
