The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondent No. 3 to re-issue him passport.

The petitioner was issued passport on 04.05.2010 which expired on 03.05.2020. An FIR No. 61 dated 18.05.2012, under Sections 307, 506, 427, 148, 149 of IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act, 1959 came to be registered against different persons at Police Station, Raikot, Ludhiana, however, the petitioner was not named in the said FIR. The Police conducted investigation and thereafter filed its report under Section 173 Cr.P.C. He was not named in the charge sheet. The trial court vide judgment dated 21.04.2014 acquitted all the accused persons, thus, matter arising out PARAMJIT KAUR SAINI 2024.04.05 03:14 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

of aforesaid FIR stands compromised. He applied for re-issuance of passport on 15.09.2023, however, till date passport has not been issued to him.

Ms. Sehej Sandhawalia, Central Government Counsel for Union of India, who on advance notice is present in Court, accepts notice and waives service. She submits that application of the petitioner would be processed within eight weeks from today.
