NAMIT KUMAR J. (Oral) The present petition has been filed by the petitioner under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, seeking a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to allow the petitioner to continue in service for two years as per the provisions of The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, as the petitioner is having 70% locomotive disability.

On 18.05.2021, the following order was passed:- "The matter is taken up for hearing through video conferencing due to COVID-19 situation.

This is a petition seeking direction to the respondents to allow the petitioner to continue in service for two years MOHD YAKUB 2024.07.24 18:41 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh

CWP No.9786 of 2021 (O&M) as per the provisions of the Right of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

From the pleadings, it is forthcoming that the petitioner retired on 30.04.2021.

Learned counsel for the petitioner seeks time to address the court as to whether the petitioner can be granted extension of two years after the date of his retirement, more so when he ceases to hold the office. Adjourned to 2.7.2021."

Thereafter, notice of motion was issued on 23.07.2021 and on 20.01.2023, learned counsel for the petitioner sought adjournment for impleading the legal representatives of the petitioner, however, the same have not been impleaded so far.

Since the petitioner has unfortunately died, therefore, the relief claimed in the present petition has become infructuous. Disposed of accordingly.
