By way of present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, prayer has been made for issuance of direction to respondent Nos.2 & 3 to protect the lives and personal liberty of the petitioners and also directing respondent Nos.4 to 8 not to interfere in the personal lives and liberty of the petitioners.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that instead of pressing the present petition on merits, his client would be satisfied in case direction is issued to the respondents to decide the representation dated 02.04.2024 (Annexure P-6) moved at the instance of petitioners by passing a speaking order expeditiously.

Prayer seems to be justified.

Upon advance notice, Mr. Kewal Singh, Addl. A.G., Punjab appears on behalf of respondent Nos.1 to 3 and raises no objection to the innocuous prayer made on behalf of the petitioners.

In view of the aforesaid, but without going into the merits of the controversy, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Senior Superintendent of Police, District Fazilka to look into the representation dated 02.04.2024 (Annexure P-6) and decide the same in accordance with law by passing a speaking order preferably within a period of 08 (eight) weeks' from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
