Through the instant petition, the petitioners seek issuance of directions upon the respondents No.2 and 3, to ensure protection of their and their family members' lives and liberty at the hands of respondents No.4 and 5, who have been continuously interfering in their day-to-day life, on the pretext of searching their son, who is involved in a criminal case.

Today, the learned State counsel has filed a reply, on affidavit of Suvinder Pal Singh, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub Division, Baba Bakala, District Amritsar (Rural), which is taken on record.

A perusal of the reply makes revelations that the petitioners have now opted to close their complaint, as filed against police official(s) concerned. The relevant extract of the reply is reproduced hereunder:- "...It has also been revealed that a complaint bearing No.44DEVINDER YADAV 2024.07.09 17:39 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment

CRWP-3040-2024 NHRC Dated 31.01.2024 was also submitted by the petitioner Subash Chander before the Registrar, Human Right Commission Punjab Chandigarh and same was entrusted to the answering deponent and the answering deponent further entrusted the same to the SHO Police Station Beas. The SHO Police Station Beas had got recorded the statement of petitioner Subash Chander to the effect that since about 4 years ago a criminal case of NDPS was registered against his son Ashish in Delhi and knew about this fact when the police from Delhi came to his house and after that his son never came to his house situated at Guru Nanakpura. On 01.11.2023 he bequeaths his son and the wife of his son from his moveable and immoveable property by publishing a notice in the news paper. The police visited in his house and he felt mentally distress due to which he had submitted a complaint before the Human Right Commission and now he wants to file his complaint..."

In view of the stand (supra), as taken by the petitioners before the inquiry officer concerned, no further direction is required to be passed at this stage. Consequently, the instant petition is closed. 5.

Disposed of accordingly.
