JASGURPREET SINGH PURI , J. (ORAL ) Petitioners claim that they have attained majority and married against the wishes of their family members. Apprehending threat to their life and liberty, they have filed the present petition for protection. Petitioners claim to have submitted a representation (Annexure P-6) dated 10.5.2021, in this regard to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Rupnagar.

CRWP-4477-2021 (O&M) Notice of motion to the office of Advocate General, Punjab.

On asking of the Court, Mr.Sidakmeet Singh Sandhu, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the State. Copy stands supplied. The petitioners have placed on record the copy of Aadhar Cards as well as copy of driving licence of petitioner No.1, (Annexures P-1 to P-3) as proof of their age. Copy of certificate (Annexure P4) and photographs (Annexure P-5) regarding performance of marriage have also been placed on record.

This petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3 - S.H.O., Police Station Shri Anandpur Sahib, District Rupnagar, that representation, if any, filed seeking protection of life and liberty, be looked into and contents thereof be duly verified and if necessary, requisite steps be taken, strictly in accordance with law for grant of protection of life and liberty to the petitioners. It is made clear that this order shall not be treated as a stamp of this Court regarding marriage of the parties. May 17, 2021.
