M.M.S. BEDI, J. (ORAL) Petitioner seeks quashing of criminal proceedings after the conviction order has been passed in a case under Section 354 IPC, on the basis of compromise while the appeal is pending. Notice of motion to the Advocate General, Punjab. On asking of the Court, notice has been accepted by Mr.Jashan Preet Singh, AAG., Punjab, present in the Court. Copy given.

This petition is disposed of with a direction that the Appellate Court will record the statements of the parties regarding the matter having been compromised. It will be open to the Court to consider the compromise as a mitigating circumstance either to give the benefit of doubt to the petitioners or to grant any other relief including the relief of probation to the petitioners permissible under law.
