On 27.3.2026, the following order was passed: 'Apprehending his arrest in F.I.R. No. 282 dated 17.11.2025, registered under Sections 103, 61(2), 238, 3(5) of BNS & (Section 302, 120-B, 201, 34 of IPC) (Section 3 (2) (V) (VI) of SC&ST Act added later on), at Police Station Shahkot, Jalandhar (Punjab); the appellant has preferred this present appeal seeking pre-arrest/anticipatory bail. Counsel for the appellant, inter alia, contends that the case set up against the appellant is that the deceased had committed suicide as she had married against her parents' wishes, the appellant has been falsely implicated into the FIR in question, the mother-in-law namely Baljit Kaur has been found innocent, the husband of the deceased namely Sharanjit Singh is in custody, no effective recovery is to be made from the appellant & the appellant is willing to join investigation and cooperate therein as per law.

Notice of motion.

On the strength of advance notice; Mr. Hemant Aggarwal, DAG, Punjab has entered appearance on behalf of the respondent-State of Punjab.

CRA-S No.1042 of 2026 -2Adjourned to 28.04.2026. The concerned SHO (through learned State Counsel) is directed to inform respondent No.2 about the pendency of the present petition as also the next date of hearing fixed in the matter. The said SHO shall also file a compliance report to this Court in this regard. The appellant is directed to appear before the Investigating Officer on 02.04.2026 at 11:00 A.M. in concerned Police Station and join investigation. In the event of arrest, the appellant shall be released on interim bail subject to his furnishing personal/surety bond(s) to the satisfaction of the Arresting Officer/Investigating Officer. As and when further called by Investigating Officer, the appellant shall join the investigation. He shall abide by the condition(s) enumerated under Section 482(2) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.' 1.1 Office note indicates that respondent no.2 stands served. However, none has caused appearance on behalf of the said respondent. 2.

Learned State counsel (on instructions) submits that pursuant to the order dated 27.3.2026, the appellant has joined investigation and is no longer required for custodial interrogation.

In view of the above, the instant petition is allowed. Interim order dated 27.3.2026, passed by this Court is made absolute, subject to the conditions as enumerated under Section 482(2) of BNSS. 4.

This order should not be treated as "blanket" order. It will not be read granting appellant indefinite protection from arrest. It shall be confined to the FIR mentioned ibid and will not operate in respect of any other incident that involves commission of an offence. 5.

Liberty is reserved in favour of State/complainant to move for cancellation/recall of this order in case the appellant violates any condition stipulated under Section 482(2) of BNSS or upon showing any
