The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of direction to respondent Nos.2 & 4 to protect life and liberty of the petitioner and his family members who is a witness in FIR No.119 dated 24.04.2016 registered at Police Station City Khanna, District Ludhiana.

Learned counsel restricts his prayer only to issuance of direction to official respondents to protect life and liberty of the petitioner, he being witness in two FIRs and with regard to other prayer of release of licensed weapon, he would file an application before the Court concerned, in accordance with law. 3.
Learned State counsel states that if any application under the Witness Protection Scheme, 2018, is received from the petitioner, the same would be considered expeditiously and if threat perception is found, action shall be taken in accordance with law.

The aforesaid satisfies the learned counsel for the petitioner. 5.
Disposed of accordingly.
