Prayer in the instant petition filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, seeking issuance of an appropriate writ, order or direction in the nature of Habeas Corpus for release of detenue, namely, Sugana @ Sugna, who is presently kept in Children Home, Gandhi Vanita Ashram, Jalandhar (respondent No.2), who has now attained majority. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner contended that detenueSugana @ Sugna, has attained the age of majority and she is willing to accompany the petitioner. Hence, learned counsel prayed for release of aforesaid detenue, who is presently kept in Children Home, despite having attained majority.

In pursuance of order dated 20.03.2026, report has been filed by learned State counsel, as per which, counselling of detenue has been conducted, and her statement has been recorded wherein she stated that she wants to go with petitioner-Paramjeet Kaur.

Taking into consideration the report, Chairman, Child Welfare Committee, Bathinda, is directed to pass an appropriate order regarding the release of detenue after verifying the age of detenue as to whether she has attained age of majority, and after recording her willingness, within a period of one week on receipt of certified copy of this order. 6.
