(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance. Notice of motion.

Mr. Joginder Pal Ratra, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent - State.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that both the petitioners have not performed marriage so far, however, they are living together. It is further submitted that the petitioners have given a representation dated 18.07.2018 to the Station House Officer, Gurdaspur (Annexure P3) seeking necessary protection but no action has been taken so far in the matter.

The present petition is disposed of with a direction to the Station House Officer, Gurdaspur to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P3) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances. It is made clear that in case, any FIR is registered against petitioner No.2, the SHO, Police Station Sadar Gurdaspur is directed to take appropriate action against him, in accordance with law.
