******* SURINDER GUPTA, J.(Oral) This is petition filed by the petitioners seeking protection of their life and liberty.

Learned State counsel submits that the property of petitioners is situated adjacent to Shamlat land of the Panchayat of village Randhawa and they in order to encroach upon the land of Panchayat tried to install mobile tower there. A complaint was made to DDPO to stop the petitioners from raising construction over Panchayat land and police help was also sought to restrain the petitioners from getting the mobile tower installed on the Panchayat land. Now a petition has been filed against the petitioners before JYOTI 2019.07.09 11:49 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document

CRM-M-31461-2017 the DDPO under Section 7 of Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961.

Without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this petition is disposed of with direction to Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar to look into the aspect of threat to life and liberty of the petitioners and to take appropriate action in that regard.

It is, however, made clear that nothing contained in this order shall be interpreted as giving any type of liberty or protection to the petitioners in any criminal, civil or other proceedings pending or instituted against them.
