The petitioner prays for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to disburse the interest on the delayed release of the amount of compensation for the acquisition of the land. 2.

The petitioner claims that the competent authority, vide award dated 22.07.2020, in exercise of the powers under the National Highways Act, 1956, has acquired the land, but the payment was released only on 15.07.2021.

Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, it is considered appropriate to direct the competent authority for land acquisition (respondent No.2) to decide the issue of entitlement of interest, in accordance with law, within a period of one month from today.

With the observations made above, the present writ petition is dismissed.
