IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA

AT CHANDIGARH CRM-M-32928 of 2018 Date of Decision: 09.08.2018 Ravinder Singh @ Bobby ....Petitioner

Versus

State of Punjab ....Respondent CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE RAMENDRA JAIN Present: - Mr. Harkeerat Singh, Advocate, for the petitioner. Mr. Harpreet Multani, AAG, Punjab.

RAMENDRA JAIN, J. (ORAL) Through this petition under Section 439 Cr.P.C. prayer has been made for grant of regular bail to petitioner Ravinder Singh @ Bobby in a case arising from FIR No.174 dated 13.08.2017 registered under Sections 489-A, 489-B, 489-C and 489-D IPC at Police Station Canal Colony, District Bathinda.

According to the prosecution, fake currency notes of Rs.8.80 lakh were recovered from the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that petitioner is first offender. He is in custody since last more than one year. Conclusion of trial may take a sufficient long time as out of 10 prosecution witnesses only one has been examined as yet. Petitioner has wrongly been charge-sheeted under Section 489-A, 489-B and 489-D, whereas 489-C is bailable.

On the other hand, learned State counsel vehemently opposed the grant of regular bail to the petitioner.

RAVINDER SINGH 2018.08.13 15:04 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document In view of the fact that recovery of huge quantity of fake currency

-2CRM-M-32928 of 2018 notes amounting to Rs.8.80 lakh has been effected from the petitioner, he does not deserve the concession of regular bail. Argument of learned counsel for the petitioner qua chargesheet relates to final stage of the trial.

In view of above, petition is dismissed.
