(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance. Notice of motion.

Mr. Navdeep Singh, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent - State while Mr. Amandeep Singh Manaise, Advocate present in the Court accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.4 and 5.

It has been submitted that petitioner No.2 is the paternal uncle of petitioner No.1, therefore, marriage of the petitioners are in violation of one of the conditions contained in Section 5 of the Hindu Marriage Act.

CRM No.M-3285 of 2017 the Court, the girl was allowed to meet the parents and counsel representing them has submitted that the parents of the girl would not cause any harm to the petitioners.

Without examining the question of validity or otherwise of marriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurdaspur, District Gurdaspur to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P4) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances.
