(ORAL) Case is taken up for hearing through video conferencing. Prayer in the present petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution is for the issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus for issuance of directions to respondents No. 1 to 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners and for directing respondents No. 4 to 7 not to interfere in their married life.

On 26.5.2021, the following order was passed by a Co-ordinate Bench of this Court:- "The case has been taken up for hearing through video conferencing.

The petitioners, claiming themselves to be aged about 18 and 25 years respectively, have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the averments that the petitioners performed marriage on 20.05.2021 at Mata Mandir Phulwanwal, Ludhiana as per Hindu rites and ceremonies against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 7 and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance.

Notices to respondents No.4 to 7 be issued for that date and notice be also given dasti, if so desired. The petitioners are directed to remain present on that date before this Court through video conferencing. In the meanwhile, respondent No.2-Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana is directed to look into the grievances of the petitioners as set out in the petition and also expressed in the representation dated 21.05.2021 (Annexure P-5), verify the age of petitioner No.1, take appropriate action for protection of their life and liberty as may be warranted by the circumstances and submit a report in this regard on the next date of hearing.

Registry of this Court is directed to send a copy of this order along with copy of the petition and above-said representation to respondent No.2-Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana for requisite compliance."

Learned State counsel submits that as per the short reply dated 14.7.2021, the petitioners have appeared before the inquiry officer and got recorded their statements that they are residing happily as husband and wife and they do not have any threat from any corner. Keeping in view the above, no further orders are called for. The petition stands disposed of.
