JASGURPREET SINGH PURI , J. (ORAL ) The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, seeking a direction to respondent Nos.1 to 4 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner at the hands of respondent No.5.

The learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner is married with respondent No.5 for the last 25 years and they are having four children from their wedlock. Two children are stated to be residing with the petitioner and two children are with respondent No.5. He has submitted that a litigation is also going on between the petitioner and respondent No.5. He has submitted that respondent No.5 in connivance with

local police officials has been threatening the petitioner and the local police is also calling the petitioner to the police station from time to time and there is every likelihood that false case may be registered against the petitioner. He has further submitted that the petitioner is a lady and the police cannot be permitted to exceed it powers by calling the petitioner to the police station. He has further submitted that the petitioner had sent a representation to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur, dated 18.5.2021 (Annexure P-2) by way of registered post and a receipt of the same is also attached at page No.24 of the present petition. However, no action has been taken on the representation.

Notice of motion to respondent Nos.1 to 4 only at this stage.

Mr.Randhir Singh Thind, DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the aforesaid respondents and states that he has no objection in case the representation dated 18.5.2021 (Annexure P-2) sent to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur, is directed to be decided in a time bound manner and in accordance with law.

After hearing the learned counsel for the parties, this Court is satisfied that even without calling for the reply from the State at this stage, this petition can be disposed of with appropriate directions. Consequently, in view of the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioner and the averments made in the petition as well as in the representation (Annexure P-2) and the stand taken by the learned State counsel, the present writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur- respondent No.3,

to decide the representation dated 18.5.2021 (Annexure P-2), by passing a speaking order in accordance with law preferably within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of the order.
