(ORAL) The present peƟƟon has been filed under ArƟcle 226/227 of the ConsƟtuƟon of India for issuance of an appropriate writ, order or direcƟons to the official respondents for protecƟng life and liberty of the peƟƟoner and for providing him police protecƟon/security, who is apprehending threats to life and liberty at the hands of private respondents.

Counsel for the peƟƟoner submits that the peƟƟoner is a pracƟsing lawyer at Chandigarh and represenƟng Ms. Jaswinder Kaur Sangha, who is resident of England, in the civil cases pending in District Kapurthala as well as in Chandigarh. He further submits as and when he went to Kapurthala in connecƟon with his professional duƟes then the private respondents threatened him. He further submits that since he is based in Chandigarh, as such, he does not prima facie apprehend any threat at Chandigarh but he would confine his prayer whenever he visits Kapurthala in connecƟon with this maƩer, he be given adequate security.

The prayer is genuine and the same is allowed. 4.

Given above, as and when the peƟƟoner shall visit to Kapurthala in connecƟon with the aforesaid civil liƟgaƟon, the concerned Senior Superintendent of Police shall provide security to the peƟƟoner at the border and across the border of Kapurthala, where the peƟƟoner will go.

Considering the fact that this Court has ordered security which is going to cause expenditure or taxpayers, this Court requests the concerned trial Court to expedite the trial in the civil suit. The peƟƟoner to communicate this order to the Court concerned. Whenever the peƟƟoner shall communicate the date of his case to the concerned Senior Superintendent of Police through official phone number or official e-mail then the State counsel shall inform to the peƟƟoner's counsel. 6.

The present peƟƟon stands disposed of. Liberty reserved to the peƟƟoner to come to this Court again, if need arises. All pending miscellaneous applicaƟons, if any, stand disposed of. The suit be expedited given the security issues & related expenses.
