(ORAL) Case is being taken up for hearing through video conferencing. This petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for directing respondents No. 1 to 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner from the hands of respondents No. 4 to 9. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that parents of the petitioner want to solemnize her marriage somewhere else against her wish but she is in love with one Simranjeet Singh who is running a shop in the village but is not major. He further contends the petitioner and Simranjeet Singh want to marry each other after attaining the marriageable age of Simranjeet Singh but the family members of the petitioner are against their relationship.
Learned counsel for the petitioner also submits that petitioner is now major and free to chose her life partner and started living with the family of Simranjeet Singh and they have been facing threat from the family members of the petitioner and in this regard, they have also moved a GURPREET SINGH 2020.07.02 15:59 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chadigarh

Notice of motion to respondents No. 1 to 3- State only. On the asking of the Court, Mr. Amit Mehta, Sr. DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the State.
Without commenting upon the marital status of the petitioner and Simranjeet Singh, I dispose of the petition with directions to respondent No. 2 to decide the representation of the petitioner, Annexure P-1 and grant her protection, if any threat to her life and liberty is perceived. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioner from legal action for violation of law if any committed by her.
