Petitioner - Aradhna Devi, aged about 39 years, has filed instant petition for seeking protection the lives and liberty of her as well as her family members, which is stated to be under the eminent threats at the hands of private respondents No.5 & 6.

Counsel for the petitioner submits that respondent No.5 is an habitual person of using abusive and filthy words to the petitioner and other ladies of the society & locality. In that regard, one case FIR No.07, dated 24.01.2020, under Sections 354, 354A, 294, 323 of IPC, is registered at P.S. Nayagaon, District SAS Nagar (Mohali). In the said criminal case, against respondent No.5, petitioner has been named as a witness. 3.
He further submits that on 07.06.2022, examination-in-chief of the petitioner was recorded, and thereafter, petitioner is being crossexamined, which is now pending for 19.04.2023. Counsel further submits that respondents No.5 & 6 have been threatening the petitioner to resile from her stand in the cross-examination pending before the trial Court for JAWALA RAM 2023.04.19 12:40 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgement.

Counsel for the petitioner submits that in that regard one representation dated 25.03.2023 (Annexure P-3), is already addressed to the SHO, PS Nayagaon, SAS Nagar (Mohali), but no steps are being taken thereon so far.

Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 4 only. 6.
On asking of the Court, Mr. Anmol Singh Sandhu, AAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of official respondents No.1 to 4 (State). Requisite copy of the paper book has been supplied to him in Court.

In view of above, prayer made in present petition is allowed and respondent No.4 - SHO, Police Station Nayagaon, District SAS Nagar, Mohali, is directed to look into the representation dated 25.03.2023 (Annexure P-3), qua threat perception, and if any substance of truth is found in the same, then it would be ensured that no pressure/fear is caused to the petitioner in completing her cross-examination. 8.
Petition stands disposed of accordingly.
