(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance. Notice of motion.
Mr. R.S. Khaira, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondents No.1 to 3 while Mr. Ram Bilas Gupta, Advocate for has appeared on behalf of respondents No.4 and 5. Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that a representation dated 13.09.2017 was made to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran (Annexure P5) seeking necessary protection but no action has been taken so far in the matter. Jagtar Singh and Mandeep Singh i.e. respondents No.4 and 5 are present in the Court. They are father and brother of petitioner Mohd. CRM No.M-34538 of 2017 No.1 - Rajwinder Kaur. They have filed their respective affidavits that since petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2, so, they have no objection with their marriage.
Heard.
Without examining the question of validity or otherwise of marriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P5) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances.
Mr. Gurinder Singh, Head Constable of Chandigarh Police, who is present in Court, is directed to accompany the petitioners to SHO, Police Station, Sector 3, Chandigarh in his protection. The police officials of Police Station, Sector 3, Chandigarh will further take the petitioners to the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar, who will further provide protection to them to go to their native place.
Disposed of accordingly.
