IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB & HARYANA

AT CHANDIGARH **** CRM-M-17785 of 2020 Date of Decision: 19.11.2020 Amrinder Singh Petitioner

Versus

State of Punjab Respondent CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE AVNEESH JHINGAN

Present:

Mr. Vishal Goel, Advocate for the petitioner. Mr. Amit Mehta, Senior DAG, Punjab.

AVNEESH JHINGAN, J (Oral):

The matter is taken up for hearing through video conference due to COVID-19 situation.

The brief facts are that FIR No. 120 dated 15.5.2020 under Sections 381, 420, 120-B IPC (Sections 411, 419, 465, 467, 468, 471 IPC added later on) at Police Station Civil Lines Patiala, District Patiala was lodged at the instance of Dr. Surinder Singh Nanda wherein it has been alleged that Dimple Kaur and her husband Yadvinder Singh had laid hands on his blank signed cheque and had withdrawn an amount of 12,30,000/- from his savings account.

On 8.7.2020, this Court granted the interim relief considering among other things the submission of counsel for petitioner that the story projected by the police is unbelievable.

Today, learned counsel for the State, on instructions from ASI-Baljinder Singh, submits that the petitioner has joined the investigation and no custodial interrogation is required.
