The alleged detenues, whose names have been mentioned in Para No.4 of the petition, are stated to be working in a Brick Kiln i.e. Batha Marka DB, Police Station and Tehsil Samrala, District Ludhiana, Punjab, for manufacturing Kachha Bricks. The learned counsel would further contend that the petitioner has given a representation dated 28.05.2021 to the DistrictMagistrate, Ludhiana (Punjab), however no action has been taken.

The District Magistrate of the District is the competent authority as per Chapter-IV of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976 to deal with such like matters. The petitioner, therefore, is relegated to avail the remedy before the District Magistrate concerned. The District Magistrate, Ludhiana, is directed to decide the representation forthwith. In view of the above, the present petition stands disposed off accordingly.
