Rajan Gupta, J (Oral) This is a petition under Section 482 Cr.P.C seeking quashing of FIR No.221 dated 28.5.2014 registered at P.S. Manimajra, Chandigarh under Sections 406, 498-A IPC on the basis of compromise. On the last date of hearing, Judicial Magistrate was directed to record the statements of the parties and send a report. Report has now been received. Operative part thereof is as under:- "In compliance of said order, the parties appeared before the undersigned on 18.2.2015. A joint statement of complainant Baksh Kaur and accused persons namely, Pankaj, Surinder Pal and Asha Rani has been recorded. Compromise deed Ex PA is also placed on record. After going through the statement made by the said persons, this court is of the opinion that the parties have settled the matter

In view of above, continuance of trial would be an exercise in futility. Counsel for the petitioners submits that he has instructions to state that custody of minor child shall remain with respondent No.2. In view of above, FIR and all subsequent proceedings are hereby quashed.
