The present petition has been filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C. (now Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023) seeking extension of the period granted by the learned Trial Court vide order dated 07.02.2026, whereby the petitioners were permitted to travel abroad from 10.02.2026 till 15.04.2026 in FIR No.34 dated 26.02.2020, registered under Sections 420, 465, 468, 471 and 120-B IPC (Section 120B IPC having subsequently been deleted and Section 467 IPC having been added vide order dated 03.07.2024), at Police Station Bhogpur, District Jalandhar Rural.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners seek extension of the aforesaid period of travel abroad for a further period beyond 15.04.2026 on the grounds stated in the petition. I have heard learned counsel for the petitioners and have gone through the record.

At the outset, this Court is of the view that the prayer for extension of the period initially granted by the learned Trial Court ought to have been raised before the said Court in the first instance. Be that as it may, it is not disputed that the present petition was filed on 19.02.2026. However, during the pendency of the present petition, the period of permission granted by the learned Trial Court has already expired on 15.04.2026.

In view of the above, no effective relief survives for adjudication in the present petition and the same has, thus, been rendered infructuous.

Consequently, the present petition is disposed of as having become infructuous. However, in the interest of justice, the petitioners are directed to appear before the concerned Trial Court/Illaqa Magistrate/Duty Magistrate on or before 15.06.2026. It shall be open to the petitioners to move an appropriate application before the competent Court seeking any further relief, which shall be considered and decided in accordance with law.
