Mr. Amit Dhawan, Advocate, for the petitioner. ***** SUDHIR MITTAL, J. (ORAL) This petition has been filed for protection to the life and liberty of the petitioner.

It has been submitted that the petitioner received a whatsapp call at 1.10 PM from unidentified person asking the petitioner to pay Rs.20 lacs. The incident was notified to the SHO concerned on the same day but he failed to take any action thereupon. Thus, a representation dated 04.01.2023 (Annexure P-4) was submitted but the same has also not elicited any response. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the prayer in this petition is confined to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner. 3.
Notice of motion.

Mr. Kamalpreet Bawa, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the State of Punjab and waives service. Four copies of the paper book be supplied to him during the course of the day. 5.
Considering the nature of the order being passed no reply is necessary.

The petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3 to decide the pending representation dated 04.01.2023 (Annexure P-4) by passing a speaking order within eight weeks from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order.

In case, it is found that the petitioner requires protection, adequate arrangements be made. Meanwhile, it shall be ensured that the life and liberty of the petitioner is not harmed.
