ARUN MONGA, J.(ORAL) The petitioners have approached this Court for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the official respondents to protect their life and liberty, as theyapprehend threat at the hands of private respondents, who with the help of local police are harassing the petitioners and threatening them of their false implication in criminal cases like dowry etc. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that marriage of petitioner No.1-Bayant Singh was solemnized with respondent No.4-Amritpal Kaur on 24.07.2016 as per Sikh rites. On 22.05.2017, a baby girl was born out of the said wedlock. After some time, petitioner No.1 came to know that respondent No.4 is a fraud lady as she had earlier performed marriage with one Paramdeep Bhatti on 22.12.2009. He also came across another marriage certificate of her registered on 21.03.2011. A fight also took place between the parties.Respondent No.4also extracted money from Paramdeep Bhatti. petitioners are being threatened by the private respondents for settling the dispute by paying a sum of Rs.25 lacs, failing which they will be implicated in false criminal cases.

In these circumstances, the petitioners submitted representation dated 26.06.2020 (Annexure P-4) to respondent No.2, but the same has not been adverted till date. Hence, this petition. 4.

Without commenting on the merits of the petition and the averments contained therein, the writ petition is disposed of with an observation that respondent No.2- Senior Superintendent of Police, Jagraon (Rural), District Ludhiana, to whom representation Annexure P-4 was submitted, would go through the contents of the representation along with the contents of present writ petition, by treating the same as supplementary representation and ascertain/verify the threat perception of the petitioners. If deemed appropriate, necessary steps then would be taken to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners, in accordance with law. 6.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition stands disposed of.
