Mr. Ashish Aggarwal, Advocate for petitioner. **** Suvir Sehgal, J. (Oral) The Court has been convened through Video Conferencing due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Counsel for the petitioner has submitted that petitioner is a 91 years old widow. She is being repeatedly harassed by police official respondents No.3 and 4, for the reason that her grandson, namely, Gurbhej Singh alias Bheja, has criminal antecedents. Official respondents No.3 and 4 searched her house and took away valuable articles without assigning any reason. They even called her to the police station where she was made to sit for hours together. Before approaching this Court, she submitted a representation dated 20.06.2020 (Annexure P-1) to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran for protection of her life and liberty but no action was taken thereon.

CRWP No.4717 of 2020 {2} On instructions from ASI Balwinder Singh, State counsel submits that grandson of the petitioner is involved in cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Be that as it may, the fact remains that the petitioner is a widow of an advanced age, who is staying alone and has claimed not to be involved in any of the alleged nefarious activities of her grandson. In the evening of her life, she is entitled to lead a peaceful life with respect and dignity. She has already addressed representation Annexure P/1 to respondent No.2 which is pending before him.
Without adverting to the merits of the petitioner's allegations at this stage, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran to consider the representation dated 20.06.2020 (Annexure P/1) and thereafter, to take appropriate steps as warranted in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is any imminent threat to the life and liberty of the petitioner, then it be ensured that no harm is caused to her.
