Petitioner has filed this petition under Section 439 Cr.P.C. for grant of regular bail in case FIR No.140 dated 24.09.2015 under Sections 307 and 34 IPC, registered at Police Station Ajnala, District Amritsar Rural. Notice of motion.

On asking of the Court, Ms.Shivali, Asstt. Advocate General, Punjab, who is present in the Court, accepted notice on behalf of the respondent-State and contested the petition.

I have heard learned counsel for the petitioner as well as learned State counsel and have gone through the record. From the record, I find that as per the FIR, the main allegations Vineet Gulati 2016.11.11 16:48 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Chandigarh

CRM No.M-37593 of 2016 -2levelled against present petitioner are that he along with other accused gave beatings to complainant Amandeep Kaur after marriage. On 23.09.2015, when she was alone in the house, the present petitioner along with coaccused poured oil on her and set her on fire. Keeping in view the nature and gravity of the offence and the fact that challan has not been presented so far, I do not find it a fit case where petitioner is entitled to grant of anticipatory bail. Otherwise also, there is every apprehension of tampering with the evidence. Therefore, finding no merit in the present petition, the same is dismissed.
