ALKA SARIN, J.: (Oral) Heard through video conferencing.

In the present contempt petition the grievance of the petitioner is that he had retired as Junior Assistant from the Municipal Council, Abohar. Post retirement, he was denied his retrial benefits and, as a result, he had approached this Court in CWP No.2154 of 2020. Vide order dated 28.01.2020, this Court had directed the respondents to decide the representation dated 10.12.2019 within a period of three months and thereafter, if found entitled to, pay the benefits due to the petitioner within the next three months. Since the retiral benefits of the petitioner amounting to Rs.15,09,190/- had not been paid, even though he was found entitled to the same by the respondents, the present contempt petition was filed by the petitioner. Vide order dated 14.07.2020 notice of motion was issued in the present case. Today, the learned counsel for the petitioner states that a cheque has been handed over to the petitioner towards the retiral benefits. He, however, states that interest on delayed payment has not been paid to the petitioner. He further states that the present petition

In view of the above, the present petition is disposed of as having been rendered infructuous. The petitioner would, however, be at liberty to approach the respondents for claiming interest on the delayed payment.
