***** ANIL KSHETARPAL, J. (Oral) The hearing of the case was held through video conferencing on account of restricted functioning of the Courts. Through this petition, filed under Articles 226 and 227 of the Constitution of India, the petitioners pray for issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents to pay the unpaid retiral benefit such as Gratuity, Leave Encashment and Furlough leave, Pension, Commutation Pension etc. alongwith interest on delayed payment.

Learned counsel representing the petitioners contends that at this stage, he would be satisfied if the respondents are directed to decide the claim of the petitioners.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that the petitioners have already sent legal notices dated 12.05.2021 and 24.05.2021 to the Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala in this regard. Notice of motion.

CWP No.10950 of 2021 -2Mr. Ajaivir Singh, Advocate, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents-University and submits that he has no objection to the limited prayer made by learned counsel representing the petitioners. In view of the the aforesaid facts, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to decide the legal notice dated 24.05.2021 by passing a speaking order, in accordance with law within a period of two months from the date of receipt of certified copy of the order.

In case, the petitioners are found to be entitled to the benefits as claimed, the same shall be released to them within a period of two months, thereafter.

All pending miscellaneous applications, if any, also stand disposed of.
