***** KARAMJIT SINGH , J. (Oral) Case has been heard through video conferencing on account of COVID-19 Pandemic.

Petitioners allege that both of them are major and they got married on 7.6.2021 against the wishes of respondent No.4 to 16, who are related to petitioner No.2.

Counsel for the petitioners submitted that the aforesaid private respondents have threatened to cause harm to both the petitioners, on which they approached learned District & Sessions Judge, Hoshiarpur who passed order dated 7.6.2021 (Annexure P-1) directing respondent Nos. 2 and 3 to protect lives and liberty of the petitioners by providing them adequated

( 2 ) CRM-M-23692-2021 security. The counsel for the petitioners further submitted that the petitioners approached respondent No.2 i.e. SSP, Hoshiarpur and submitted before him representation dated 15.6.2021 (Annexure P-2) along with copy of order (Annexure P-1). However, till date the police authorities failed to take any action and they have not provided any protection to the petitioners, who are facing persistent threats from the side of the private respondents. Notice of motion.

Mr. P.S. Walia, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the State of Punjab. He has submitted that the concerned authority will look into the matter and take decision on the representation of the petitioners in accordance with law.

In view of above, without going into merits of the case, the present petition is hereby disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 to consider representation dated 15.6.2021 (Annexure P-2) of the petitioners and to provide appropriate protection to them, if the situation so warrants. However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the marriage of the petitioners.
