The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of Constitution of India for issuance of writ nature of mandamus for the directing of officials respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of private respondents. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the parties have solemnized marriage on 18.04.2024 against the wishes of their parents and now they are residing in Fazilka, though they originally belong to Rajasthan and the private respondents are also the residents of Rajasthan. 3.

In view of the above and after hearing the petitioners who are present in person, this Court does not find any threat perception to the petitioners. Needless to say that State is duty bound to protect its citizens and, in case, any threat perception arises, the petitioners are at liberty to approach the Police Authorities including respondent No.3-Statioin House Officer, Police Station Sadar Fazilka, Punjab who shall take appropriate steps in accordance with law.
