Mr. Shivender Pal Singh, Advocate, for the petitioner Fateh Deep Singh, J. (Oral) The matter has been taken up through Videoconferencing on account of outbreak of pandemic COVID-19. Petitioner Shinder Kaur has sought invocation under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of direction to the official respondents to protect the life and personal liberty of the petitioner and her family members at the hands of private respondents.

Mr. Sidakmeet Sandhu, AAG Punjab for the State puts in appearance and accepts notice on behalf of the official respondents. Let copy of the paper book be supplied to him.

CRWP No. 4939 OF 2020 (O&M) -2The present petition stands disposed off with the direction to respondent no. 2 to consider and decide the representation of the petitioner (Annexure P-1) within the framework of law. Meanwhile, the official respondents shall ensure due protection of life and personal liberty of the petitioner at the hands of private respondents and shall take prompt and immediate action in accordance with law in case any instance of threat is brought to their notice by the petitioner. However, this order shall not come in the way of the authorities for contemplating legal action against the petitioner and her family.
