(Oral) The prayer in the present criminal writ petition is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus for directing the respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty to the petitioner by providing adequate security/police protection to the petitioners and also directing the respondents No.4 to 7 not to interfere in the personal life and liberty of the petitioner.

The learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the petitioner is a major and currently residing with the family of her friend, namely Vikas because the parents of the petitioner are forcibly trying to solemnize her marriage with another person against her wishes. There is no marital/physical relationship between her or his friend. Therefore, protection be provided to her.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. M.S. Toor, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the official respondents. Since no order prejudicial to the interest of the parties is being passed, therefore, there is no necessity of inviting any response.

At this stage, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, as well as on the age and nature of the relationship between the petitioner and her friend, I deem it appropriate to direct respondent Senior Superintendent of Police, District SAS Nagar Mohali, Punjab to look into the matter and pass an appropriate order on the representation allegedly filed by the petitioner before him on 26.03.2026 (Annexure P-2). It would be appreciated if necessary orders are passed within one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.

However, if the petitioner is found to have been involved in any other case then this order shall not preclude the competent authority from taking lawful action against the petitioner. 7.

Disposed of.
