(Oral) $      The petitioners having sought protection of their lives and liberty at the hands of respondent no.4, who is stated to be the husband of petitioner no.2, the petitioners being in a live-in relationship with each other, with petitioner no.2 not wishing to reside any longer with her husband. This court had, vide an order dated 29.06.2021, issued notice of motion and directed interim protection to be given, also observing in the said order that (naturally) the order would not prevent or influence any civil proceedings, either under the provisions of Section 9 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, or otherwise as may be maintainable, that order only being one ensuring that the lives and liberty of the petitioners are duly protected. On the last date of hearing, i.

e. 13.07.2021, learned State counsel having submitted, on instructions, that the petitioners had stated that they no longer apprehend any threat to their lives, learned counsel for the petitioners DHARAM VIR 2021.08.

 

  had sought time to take instructions in that regard. Today, he submits that he has confirmed that presently at least the petitioners are not apprehending any threat to their lives, but submits that they may be given due protection in case any threat emerges at a later point of time. That being so, this petition is disposed of with it having been rendered infructuous presently, but with liberty to the petitioners to approach the SSP, Sangrur/SHO of the police station concerned, to seek protection of their lives and liberty, if they apprehend it at any subsequent time, with them to be duly provided such protection as per law.
