IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA
AT CHANDIGARH CRM-M-39303 of 2018 Date of Decision: 13.09.2018 Anjali ....Petitioner
Versus
State of Haryana ....Respondent CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE RAMENDRA JAIN Present: - Mr. Parminder Singh, Advocate, for the petitioner. Mr. Yashwinder Singh, DAG, Haryana.
RAMENDRA JAIN, J. (ORAL) Through this petition under Section 439 Cr.P.C. prayer has been made for grant of regular bail to petitioner Anjali in a case arising from FIR No.864 dated 18.07.2018 registered under Sections 384 and 389 IPC at Police Station City Karnal, District Karnal.
According to the prosecution, petitioner blackmailed the complainant by laying honey-trap on the false pretext that she has become pregnant from his loins and extorted `1,00,000/- from him. Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that petitioner is in custody since 19.07.2018. No recovery has to be effected from her. Challan has been presented in the Court. Conclusion of trial may take a sufficient long time. No useful purpose would be achieved by detaining the petitioner in jail any more.
On the other hand, learned State counsel vehemently opposed the grant of regular bail to the petitioner.
