RAJAN GUPTA J. (ORAL) Present appeal is directed against the order passed by court below whereby it has accepted the application under section 24 of the Hindu Marriage Act and granted `10,000/- as maintenance pendente lite and litigation expenses to the tune of `11,000/-. We find that the maintenance granted is on the lower side as respondent is a Havildar and is drawing a salary of `51,292/-. Under the circumstances, we enhance the maintenance to `14,000/- per month and disposed off the appeal.

Counsel for the appellant has also raised a plea that maintenance pendente lite ought to have been granted from the date of application. We do not wish to express any opinion on this issue. However, counsel for the appellant shall be at liberty to move appropriate application before the court below in this regard which may be decided at the stage of final arguments.
