(ORAL) This is a petition that has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.2 & 3 to provide police protection to the petitioners as they apprehend threat of their life and liberty at the hands of respondents No.4 to 8.

Counsel for petitioners herein would contend that marriage of petitioner No.2 was selemnized in the year 2015 with respondent No.4 and out of this wedlock, two children were born, however, respondent No.4, who was a drunkard person and addicted to drugs, would beat petitioner No.2, which resulted in her leaving the matrimonial home. Thereafter, petitioner No.2 decided to reside with petitioner No.1, which was not acceptable to private respondents. CRWP No.5756 of 2021 (O&M) -2filed seeking protection of their life and liberty. Notice of motion was issued in the said petition and counsel appearing on behalf of the official respondents, on instructions from ASI Des Singh, submits that statements of petitioners have been recorded in which they have stated that now they do not fear any threat to their life and liberty at the hands of the private respondents. In view of the statement made by counsel appearing for the official respondents, no further orders are called for. Consequently, the instant petition stands disposed of as having been rendered infructuous.
