Learned counsel for petitioners submits that petitioner No.1 Neelam is major while petitioner No.2-Amritpal Singh is major but less than 21 years of age. Both are in live-in-relationship, which has infuriated the parents and other relatives of petitioner No.1, who are posing threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners.

Without expressing any opinion on merits, this petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.2-Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, to look into their representation dated 05.09.2018 (Annexure P3) and take appropriate action in accordance with law, on receipt of copy of this order along with representation in his office. However, it is made clear that the above order will not be interpreted as providing protection to the petitioners from legal action taken in any civil, criminal or other proceedings initiated/pending against them in accordance with law.
